Within ten minutes from where we live are a variety of locations that are inspirational for any plein air painter. We have the ocean just a few blocks walk and, within ten minutes, hiking trails into the foothills. Besides that, we also have agricultural fields just minutes away. The variety of subjects never ends. "Autumn Flares" is from one of our hike.  It’s an expressive abstract painting that captures the vibrant transition of autumn through swirling, textured brushstrokes. Bold oranges, yellows, and purples evoke the fiery energy of fall leaves and a dramatic seasonal sky.
