About: John Robertson

John-Robertson.jpg

I’m John Robertson, a painter who has spent the past 30+ years exploring the tension between personal emotion and global events. My work often reflects themes of memory, environmental urgency, and cultural absurdity. I believe art isn’t just decoration. It’s a response.

This site is more than a portfolio. It is a conversation. Through my blog Canvas & Conscience, I explore how current events, natural landscapes, and personal moments shape the work I create. Whether it’s a painting inspired by drought patterns oran assemblage commenting on political doublespeak, the blog gives insight into what drives the art.

You’ll find original artwork (painting, assemblege, and mixed media), behind-the-scenes process posts, essays on art and society, and reflections on how visual art can be a form of protest, memory, and repair.
