Willie Mays All-Star Game Interview

(with John Robertson Sports Paintings)

May 6th was Willie Mays birthday. Born in 1931. Back in 2007 I was hired by by Fox Sports to create three large-scale paintings baseball images of Willie Mays for an interview shown during the pregame show for the (MLB) All-Star Game in San Francisco. Two of the paintings were 4 ½ feet by 6 feet and the other baseball art was 4 feet by 8 feet, acrylic on unstretched canvas. The interview was with Derek Jeter and Ken Griffey Jr.

This is about the sixth time I have painted a large scale painting of the great center fielder, Willie Mays, nicknamed The Say Hey Kid”  who played for the old New York Giants and the San Francisco Giants.  He finished his baseball career with the NY Mets.  The first I painted Willie was for Fox Sports, a number of years ago.  Willie Mays was interviewed by Derek Jeter and  Ken Griffey Jr. during the 2007 Major League Baseball All Star Game for Fox Sports. If you watch the Willie Mays video on YouTube  or see it below,  you will see three large-scale paintings behind the three great baseball players  in the interview.
